Cat Vase

$49.00

This kitty is quite the eye-catcher, and he definitely knows it. He sits, proud and alert, ready to hold a bouquet of fresh or dried flowers. The vase was hand built, then fired in a pit containing corn husks, seaweed, coffee grounds, wood shavings and other organic materials. There’s no glaze on the piece; the colors were created by the interaction of flames with the organic material. Such pieces are usually too porous to hold water, but this one has been sealed to make it watertight.

Height: 9”
Width: 6-1/4”
Depth: 2-1/2”

I’m an unabashed cat lover. Since age 30, I’ve always had a cat, often two at once for double the fun. Contrary to what some dog lovers believe, cats have lots of personality, are affectionate and always know when their people need some comfort. However, letting cats roam outside can be a huge problem. Cats kill over two billion birds every year in the U.S., making them the top cause of human-related bird deaths. Outdoor cats can also be prey for coyotes, dogs, eagles, owls and raccoons.
