Brighten a plain wall with this unusual hanging air plant holder. The colors were created without glaze, by firing the piece in a pit along with wood shavings, corn husks, seaweed, coffee grounds and other organic materials. The interaction of the flames with the organics created the unique colorations. The air plant is included with the piece and can handle a few days in a shipping box. It doesn’t need soil, just a dousing in water once a week.
Height: 6”, 15” with hanging cord
Width: 4-3/8”
Depth: 3-3/4”
Along the Klamath-Trinity River, the indigenous Yurok people are working to protect the area against wildfires. The Yuroks have known for centuries that fire is a natural part of the forest ecosystem and keeps everything in balance. Regular, controlled burns reduce the understory and eliminate the fuel that wildfires feed on. The Yuroks are now teaching their fire management practices to other tribes as well as the National Forest Service.
