This eye-catching vase was made from small segments of pine oriented in different directions to create interesting patterns and light-dark contrasts. A perfect accent for a small space, it’s designed for dried or fabric flowers and will not hold water.

A scientists with the U.S. Forest Service, Kristina Connor is working on a program to restore long-leaf pine ecosystems. Building up the understory of pine forests is a key element of the strategy. Current research addresses understory seed production, dormancy, storage potential and longevity in the seed bank.
